So I went back to the game and played a bit then tentatively tried some cheats.

When it was opened I tried F1 to launch the Trainer and hey presto it launched without a crash. So I ran the trainer and then the game then got into the main game and opened the Skill Tree via the gamepad. I then had a thought that maybe it's the combination of two things trying to use F1 that was causing my game crash. Obviously the trainer didn't launch but F1 is also the ingame keyboard shortcut for opening the Skill Tree page. I was playing the game without the trainer and just for fun pressed F1, the normal key to invoke the trainer. I can imagine it's as frustrating for you as it is for me.Okay, another day, another wrinkle. The other chap in this thread also saying it's crashing for him (and presumably the third person who's also claimed it to be crashing for them)?Īnd I repeat I am not trying the launch the trainer at the opening menu, but ingame only.Ībove all this, though, I do appreciate the time and effort you're putting into trying to sort this for me. How do you explain it running perfectly fine for five days prior to this?Ģ. The one thing I can't try is Alt-Tab out to the Trainer and invoke it then as that will automatically crash Far Cry (something to do with the Optimus software I think on my Asus 750JZ laptop not liking co-running both the NVida and the Intel chip to one screen).ġ.

I've redownloaded the trainer on more than one occasion to see if that was corrupted. I've even deleted FC4 and redownloaded it and reinstalled. I've had Ubisoft verify all the FC4 files repeatedly and always given a clean bill of health. I've definitely only tried to F1 it in-game, never at the opening menu. I've tried everything - running with AVG and Zone Alarm not running, Zone Alarm and AVG running but with the trainer white listed in both. I can see how it appears to be for you, but I can assure you it's still crashing the game for me. God knows why and they haven't changed the game numbering, it's still v1.10. All this leads me to the conclusion that Ubisoft have recompiled the FC4.exe file and snuck it in, and now sporting an external ico file. Well actually it's a completely new style icon from what it was before but that's besides the point. ico file restored the exe and desktop icons to a FC4 logo. It was then that I noticed a new separate FC4.ico file that I swear wasn't there yesterday. No amount of 'Change Icon' clicking would restore it. exe file itself had also lost its icon, dropping back to generic Windows one too. Anyways, further investigation showed that back in the Ubisoft FC4 folder the. I have a direct desktop icon to the FC4.exe file so I can add the '-skipintro' addon and avoid the pointless NVidia and Ubisoft self congratulatory guff when you launch the game. Woke up this morning to find my desktop icon to FC4 had changed to generic Windows icon.
